Death. Exercises and Variations was selected for Aerowaves Twenty 17.

Death is a thing that cannot be experienced. Renata Piotrowska-Auffret attempts to stage the encounter with death, she goes through different scenarios making up a performative diptych, travels through centuries of (in)experience with death while she draws on its artistic, cultural and social representations. She creates a multiple meeting with death, choreographing it as an elusive partner.

Renata Piotrowska-Auffret is a choreographer and performer, graduate of the Aleksander Zelwerowicz Theatre Academy in Warsaw / Faculty of Puppet Theatre in Białystok, and the Faculty of Choreography at the I.C.I. – Centre Chorégraphique National de Montpellier/Languedoc-Roussillon in Montpellier, France. She is a multiple recipient of scholarships from the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the Art Stations Foundation, and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. In 2017, she was selected for Aerowaves Top Twenty, the twenty most promising choreographers in Europe. She is a member of the Warsaw-based collective of choreographers Centre in Motion, where she co-creates the "Choreografia w Centrum" (Choreography at the Centre) course. In her work, she juxtaposes choreography with conceptual thinking.
